Every Apple

Diversity matters. Having several points of view can bring insight and balance. I was watching John Mulaneys show, “Everybody’s Live” and he had Wanda Sykes on this week. She’s hysterical and her stand up specials make me laugh until it hurts. Interestingly enough, she barely said anything this time but she was a perfect counterpoint to the silliness of John and when she did say something, it was timed perfectly. A simple question, “What is happening?”, spoken at just the right moment, cracked me up.

So, in comedy 🎭 you need the point and counterpoint. The funny guy and the straight guy. The George Burns and the Gracie Allen.

At my home group we have people of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities, occupations, those just starting out and those who’ve been retired for years. Being sober and working a program brings us together but mutual respect and unconditional love keep us together. It is so rewarding to regularly hear and glean wisdom from people from all walks of life and I cherish that gift.

In general, there is a place for everyone at the table. Clearly, in our daily lives we don't need the rat bastards, the n’er do wells, the hate mongers and the creeps. But among the well intended, decent, good hearted people, there is a place for everyone at the table. The fact of the matter is that initially, our country was called “the melting pot”, because we thrived through inclusion and by pooling our collective strengths. So, for today, let’s take a moment to celebrate the different elements that make up the potpourri of our lives.

May peace ☮️ prevail!

With love and light, Mary 💕✨💫☪️
