We have a few acronyms for fear in my program. Before we got sober FEAR stood for F-Everything And Run, after we got sober it stood for Face Everything And Recover. It can also stand for False Evidence Appearing Real. This last one is what I think most applies to our current political situation. Yes, it seems dire and a point could be made for panicking. But I had someone in my early days consistently remind me that, “it’s never the right time to panic”.
The Course in Miracles says, “Only love is real.” And that everything else is a matter of perception, illusion, transitory and fleeting. This too shall pass. Everything does. Certain voices may be louder at the moment but they don’t come from a place of love so we can practice tuning them out. The more we focus on love, tune into the power we have to change the quality of this day, the better.
Yes, there are bad actors out there. But there’s an overwhelming collective force for good as well. There’s an upwelling of powerful, loving people who outnumber the ones my dad would call “the no-good-nicks”. The love of power cannot win over the power of love.
