Sunny side

I heard someone in a meeting say that his favorite number is “more.”I can relate to that. I was very tired last night so I went to sleep at 7pm. Maybe that was too early, cause here I am wide awake at 1am. I woke up hungry but knowing I’ll go back to sleep soon I didn’t want to eat much. I remembered (on a whim) last week, I ordered some samples of organic vegan snacks. There’s this company called sunny snacks and for $1.00 they’ll send you small samples of their healthy snacks to try. sunnysnacksorganics


Well, they come packaged in little bags with just one or a couple of snacks per bag. I had a few of those, with a protein shake and that was very satisfying. I think I will order some of my favorite- the coconut goji bubbyballs. They really hit the spot. It occurs to me that if I had more .. instead of one or two bubbyballs, I probably would have eaten half of a bigger bag. Because I only had 2, even though they’re fairly small, I was satisfied.


I think about how there’s been too much lately. Too much to do, too much stimulation for my nervous system, too much going on and not enough time to process. Too much in the inbox, not enough in the outbox, too many emails, texts, zoom meetings, calls, etc. And there hasn’t been enough. Enough quiet, meditation, time in nature, downtime and playtime.


More is not always my favorite number. Sometimes less is more. Less bubbyballs, less stress, less dancing as fast as I can and rushing to the red light. Less frenetic movement and more grounded, peaceful, sweet and serene moments. We can slow down the pace of life simply by taking a few deep breaths and remembering who we are. Then we can begin again from a place of calm and mindfulness.
